Myersville, MD is a small town located in Frederick County. It was incorporated in 1904 and was nearly destroyed by a fire in 1919. Some may recall Myersville as the location where the D.C. Snipers (also known as the Beltway Snipers) were apprehended in 2002. For those that don't, John Allen Muhammad (41 at the time) and Lee Boyd Malvo (17 at the time) coordinated a series of shootings that occurred during three weeks in October of 2002 in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. Ten people were shot and killed and three others were critically wounded in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area and alongside Interstate 95 in Virginia. The two were apprehended at a truck rest stop along westbound I-70 in Myersville after a truck driver recognized their blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan from police reports. Today, Myersville has expanded to a community of over 1,600 citizens and continues to grow.
